How to line things up on a label
Snap and the pink guides, selecting several items, the Arrange menu, stacking order and locking, and nudging with the arrow keys.
Steps

Drag and let it snap
Items snap to the label edges, to the centre, and to each other. The pink lines that flash up tell you what it just lined up with. Snap in the status bar turns it off when you want to place something freely.

Select several
Shift-click to add items to the selection, or drag a box across empty canvas and everything inside comes along.

Align and distribute
Arrange → Align left lines up their left edges. Distribute spaces three or more evenly, which is how a stack of lines stops looking nearly-right.

Fix the stacking order
Arrange → Bring to front and Send to back sort out anything that has disappeared behind something else.

Lock what is finished
The lock button in the properties panel pins an item so you cannot nudge it by accident while you work around it.

Nudge precisely
Arrow keys move the selection 0.1 mm; hold Shift for a whole millimetre.
