How to make name badges and visitor passes

Avery badge sheets: the first name biggest, a solid header bar for a site pass, and an auto date so an old badge is obvious.

Avery 5395 badge sheet 4 steps about 8 minutes

Steps

  1. Start from a badge size

New label → Avery sheets, search for badge, and pick the product you have.

  2. The name people will say out loud goes biggest

First name large and centred; the full name or the company smaller underneath. Badges get read from four feet away in bad light, so be generous.

  3. Add a header bar for a site pass

A text line reading VISITOR or CONTRACTOR with White text on black. It reads at a glance and says what someone is without anyone squinting.

  4. Add an auto date at the bottom

For visitor passes, press Auto date field. It prints today's date on its own, so an old badge is obvious the moment somebody looks at it.
