Auto date, part numbers and text that fits
A date that prints itself, a date that never changes, auto-fit versus wrap, and white-on-black for the one word that has to be seen.
Steps

Insert a date that prints itself
Add a text item, type any wording you want in front of it, then press Auto date field. It inserts {date}, which prints the current date every time the label is printed.

Set the date format or an offset
With a date field in the text, a format box and a "+ days" box appear. Use + days for a use-by or a service-due date and the label works the date out for you.

Freeze a date instead
Press Today as text and it types today's date as ordinary text that never changes — right for a certificate, wrong for a stamp.

Leave auto-fit on for part numbers
Auto-fit shrinks text to stay inside its box. With it off, a long value runs off the label and prints clipped.

Use wrap for addresses
Wrap long lines breaks the text onto the next line at the edge of the box instead of shrinking it away to nothing.

Use white on black for a warning word
White text on black gives a solid burn on a thermal printer, so it comes out sharp and nothing else competes with it.
