How KeysWalletWatch sync works: merges, conflicts and deletes

On every save. Adding, editing or deleting anything uploads the vault straight away. If you save again while an upload is running, one more upload follows, so the last change always gets there.

At unlock. The unlock screen asks the relay first. It says Checking your other devices…, then Up to date with your other devices, Changes from another device will be merged when you unlock, or Relay not reachable — opening the local copy.

Every 60 seconds while a vault is unlocked, the app checks for a newer version and merges it in. Sync Now in Settings → Sync uploads immediately.

Merging happens on your PC, after both copies are decrypted with your key — never on the server. The relay only refuses an upload that was based on an older version; the app then downloads the newer copy, merges, and uploads again.

• Changed on one PC only — that change is kept.
• Changed on both — the most recent edit wins. The other version's password goes into the entry's password history (the last 10 are kept), so you can get it back.
• Deleted on one PC — the delete travels to the others. If someone edited the entry after it was deleted, the edit wins and the entry comes back.
• Owners, categories and settings — they carry no edit times, so when both sides differ the relay's copy is used, and every PC ends up the same.

Each PC keeps its full vault, so an offline PC opens and works normally on its own copy. When the relay is reachable again, save anything or click Sync Now, and the two copies merge by the rules above.

The master password travels with the vault. After you change it on one PC, your other PCs use the new password after their next sync. Settings → Security → Change Master Password checks the relay first and offers a backup that opens with the current password. If the relay cannot be reached it warns you and asks you to tick I understand — change it anyway; if two PCs change it while apart, the more recent change wins on both once they sync. A password change only travels if the PC that made it proves it inside the encrypted vault, so the sync server can never bring back an old password.
